Looking to build a DIY barndominium or DIY home? Look no further than Raised in a Barndominium! Our blog is here to inspire and educate you on the process of building your dream home, starting with our own self-build journey. We started with a dream of a house with a wraparound porch, and ended up self-building our very own barndominium on 12 beautiful acres in Texas over the course of the last three years. We moved in September 2022 but still continue to build and finish the interior.

We understand the challenges of finding the perfect home and that is why we decided to take matters into our own hands, literally. Our experience building a barndominium taught us a lot, and we want to share that knowledge with you. We offer tips and advice for self-building, self-contracting, or even hiring a builder while still taking on DIY projects.

Our blog covers everything from the big construction projects to smaller DIY home projects. We document our own journey on Instagram and TikTok so follow us there for more content. Raised in a Barndominium is now a LLC and we want to inspire others to build their dream homes, just like we did. We will be offering floor plans, digital products to help you with your home build journey, and consultation services.

The Faces Behind Raised in a Barndominium

Howdy! We are Alfredo and Jessica. You may more commonly know Alfredo as “Fredo” if you follow us on IG and TikTok. We are high school sweethearts with three young boys. Fredo is a Metal Fabricator/Welder by trade and I am a School Psychologist. Fredo acts as the builder to our self-build barndo and I help where I am able as well as video and edit all of our build journey. I am very active with our IG community and love talking with y’all over there. It truly feels like we have developed a close-knit family over there and we would love for you to join. We are so glad you found us here and we welcome you to our journey. We hope to find this site a place full of Texas-sized, valuable information!
